Nomo made it a point to take me to the casino for my 21st birthday, I didn't leave with any cash that day, but I did win a fond memory of our time together. Going to a casino in Opelousas became something we would do on a fairly regular basis, and shortly after I moved out of our house, and got married we continued those casino trips once a month or so. Well, the trips continued until she became quite upset that the casinos no longer had actual slots to gamble with. She made it known to anyone who would listen that they had just lost a patron. Quarter slots was what she loved best. We would take two cups one for the quarters we came in with and one for our winnings. One day she got forty dollars and on the way out we stopped at Ryan's to have lunch. She was so proud of her winnings and quite surprised by it, insisting that the luck was probably mine and not hers. We enjoyed the food that we got, but made it quick because a large group had been seated near us with some small and loud children, and I learned very early on that nomo didn't have much of a filter and she had a ton of opinions on how people should and should not behave. My friend has made it a point to bring us to the casino quite often now, and anytime I win, I have the urge to call nomo, once I even found myself holding the phone. I still laugh as I feed a dollar into the machine and remember our last trio and how upset she was when she saw that, she didnt want to give the machine dollars...she didnt want a print out ticket for winnings all the fun was hearing the change fall. Her favorite games were the diamonds, cherry and patriotic 7s machines.
